North Melbourne senior coach Brad Scott has moved to dismiss suggestions Gavin Urquhart has asked to be traded from the club.

Scott says Urquhart is a ‘required player’ and North supporters should be excited by what the 22 year-old still has to offer.

“…he (Gavin) would be a little disappointed with his senior output this year but I am confident that he is one player that we haven’t seen the best of yet and I’m keen to get that out of him over the next few years,” Scott told Trade Week Radio’s Tom Rehn and Nathan Thompson via afl.com.au.

Urquhart had a frustrating year in 2010 and was hampered by niggling injuries. It resulted in him only being able to manage eight games in the senior side.

It was reported on SEN Radio earlier in the week that Urquhart wanted out of North Melbourne and the Herald Sun also claimed Brisbane had shown interest in acquiring him.

“No, he’s absolutely a required player and he’s got two years of a contract still to run,” Scott added.

“Quite often clubs enquire about your good players and in Gavin’s case, of course clubs would be interested in him.”
