In many ways 2010 was a season to forget for Gavin Urquhart, but in many others simply a learning curve for a developing player.

The opening five rounds of the season were promising for the former 2nd-round draft selection, before a shanked kick-out ultimately cost him a regular spot in the side.

He missed four weeks after surgery on his knee following the incident, then didn't break back in to the team until round 13.

Urquhart played close to his best game of the season against Richmond in round 16, but seemingly never got his body 100% right with a niggling groin injury also troubling him.

Support from coach Brad Scott during trade week should provide fresh optimism for the talented 22 year-old, and he'll be excited to prove a point in 2011.

AFL.com.au’s Steve Lavell says: Disappointed when he could have moved from half-back into the midfield. Drifted in and out of the senior side even when he wasn't injured. Must repay the club's faith in his fifth season.
