Cruize Garlett is racking up career best numbers in the VFL and last weekend's match was no exception. His 31 possessions saw him listed among North Ballarat's best players.

"Cruize was the most effective inside midfielder for either team. He highlighted his day with a terrific stoppage goal in the last quarter," North Melbourne development coach Jason Lappin said.

The last time Garlett lined up for North Melbourne was in round nine against Brisbane, but with an improved efficiency rate by foot of 85 percent, he will come under consideration to take on the Bombers at Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

First-year player Cameron Richardson (27 possessions) showed further signs of his ability to play in several positions and was also awarded best-on-ground honours for the third week in a row.

His work off the ball (11 one-percenters) also caught Lappin's eye.

"He had another quality performance playing as a defender for the first three quarters before being moved to a wing for the last. He was able to kick two crucial goals when the Seagulls were making a late charge."

With just one win on the board after the opening five rounds, many thought North Ballarat's long reign at the top was over.

Fast forward to round 11 and while they sit in sixth place, the Roosters are coming back into contention.

Up against second-placed Williamstown, Gerard Fitzgerald's team defied the odds to record an upset to remember.

"We can take a great deal of confidence (from beating Williamstown) - our players showed a lot of resolve under a lot of pressure out on our feet," Fitzgerald told The Ballarat Courier after the match.

Rookie Aaron Mullett (15 possessions) took another step forward in his development as a wingman, but inaccuracy in front of goal (three behinds) stopped him from having an even greater impact.

Brayden Norris (12 possessions) had a quieter game after a terrific fortnight, but "used the ball really well" with an impressive 100% strike-rate by foot.

Cameron Delaney (Eight possessions, three spoils) had a tough day at the office playing on talented Bulldog Jarrad Grant, while key-forward Aaron Black had a premature end to his day after leaving the field with concussion just ten minutes in.
