Lachlan Hansen is the latest Kangaroo to have his season cut short a week because of injury. Days after the club confirmed Daniel Wells would be sent in for year-ending shoulder surgery, Hansen has been dealt a similar blow.

The 23 year-old has also been carrying a shoulder injury since the middle of the season and club medical staff have ordered him to have it repaired immediately.

“Like Wellsy, Lachlan has been managed throughout the season but his symptoms were aggravated on the weekend,” Director of Medical Services Steve Saunders said.

“He was pretty much untroubled by it until Saturday night. It was always likely he would need to have it repaired at the end of the year and he hasn't pulled up well from the game against St Kilda."

Cam Richardson will also spend some time in rehabilitation needing to undergo a procedure to remedy some hip trouble which has plagued him for much of the year.

“He’ll need a hip arthroscope to repair some minor hip injury,” Saunders added.

“It’s paramount that we give our players the best opportunity to arrive in Utah fully fit and ready.

“At the start of the pre-season last year we had 31 percent of the list unavailable for full training. We really need to make sure this number is significantly reduced next time around."
