North Melbourne chairman James Brayshaw has announced the club’s Box On debt demolition campaign has passed the $1 million mark.

Brayshaw said he was stunned with the tally as it stands and the response from Kangaroos’ supporters.

“To reach $1 million in just five months is unbelievable and we couldn’t have done it without our supporters. I'm always humbled by the unbelievable support we get from passionate North fans.”

Launched late last year, the campaign offers fans the opportunity to buy a Royal Blue, Gold, Silver or Bronze Premiership Pledge in exchange for Grand Final tickets, unique experiences with the team, and name recognition on a jumper to be worn during the season among other things.

Though ecstatic with the result so far, Brayshaw was quick to remind supporters the club still has a long way to go and the Box On campaign is still rolling on.

“Now, it’s vital that we keep the momentum up and push hard to raise more. We can’t ease up in any way or stall.”

The cut-off date for fans to get their name on the special jumper has come and gone, but the Premiership Pledges still offer amazing value.

“Achieving $1 million is fantastic, but we have still got more than $4 million left before we can really start running this club at full strength.''

Along with the Box On campaign, thousands of members have also contributed to the debt through a $25 contribution.

“There have been donations big and small coming through each and every day,” Brayshaw went on to explain to kangaroos.com.au.

“The response has been wonderful from every supporter and they have simply been remarkable in the way in which they’ve given whatever they can.

“Debt has been holding this club back for far too long and now we’re finally seeing some light at the end of the tunnel and it is encouraging.”

Debt is not the only thing Brayshaw has to smile about with membership flying off the back of a successful start to the year.

“We’re around five thousand members up on the same time last year but there are still about five and a half thousand un-renewed members out there that we need to get in touch with and encourage to rejoin. If we can do that, we’d be looking at a membership record.”
