He’s been named in Werribee’s best players in six of his nine matches and sits third on the goal-kicker’s list despite having played less games than most - any way you look at it, 2012 has been a breakout year for Ben Warren.

Another four-goal haul against Sandringham on Sunday takes him to 29 majors for the year and you can also throw 20 possessions into the mix as well. As good as his form has been for the Tigers, it’s resulted in just one senior AFL call-up. That came in Round 9 against Port Adelaide, one the club would rather forget, and Warren was omitted the following week against Brisbane.

But Warren wasn’t the only one signaling his intentions for some time in the seniors with Ben Speight playing his best game for the year in the 79-point win. Playing a specific forward role, Speight dominated with three goals, five tackles and 16 possessions helping the Tigers to stay above their opponent on the VFL ladder in third place.

Will Sierakowski also had a day out collecting 24 touches, pumping the ball inside 50 on eight occasions and kicking two goals while Cam Pedersen amassed 22 disposals, nine marks and 14 hit-outs up forward and in the ruck.

Majak Daw assumed the number one ruck position though and had 18 possessions and 23 hit-outs. Ayden Kennedy was solid in defence once again along with Brad Mangan and had 19 disposals to go with six marks, and Malcolm Lynch was lively with 19 and a goal.

Up forward Lachlan Hansen took six marks and booted two goals in his return from suspension and Ben McKinley applied good pressure to his opponents on his way to 16 possessions and five tackles.
