Only a defender would have been licking his lips with horrendous conditions confronting players at Eureka Stadium on Sunday. North's Luke Delaney was just one of those who relished the opportunity to front up in howling winds and heavy rain.

In a game where one percenters are regarded so highly, Delaney notched up an incredible 19 of them on the stats sheet to go along with 16 disposals.

Although North Ballarat went down to Geelong by 11-points in a low scoring affair, Kangaroos' development coach Jason Lappin said Luke and his younger brother Cam, were brilliant.

"The Delaney brothers were terrific in defence and everyone for that matter battled in really trying conditions which included monsoonal rain at times."

Cam Delaney had 14 possessions and 9 one percenters but the outcome for the Roosters leaves them 9th on the VFL ladder and at risk of missing finals.

On North Melbourne's emergency list for Round 19 of the AFL, Aaron Black collected 9 touches and kicked 1 goal and 2 behinds while fellow forward Aaron Edwards had 16 possessions and a goal.

Ben Mabon was valiant in the ruck finishing with 25 hit-outs and 13 disposals, Cam Richardson had a good first half but quieter second half ending the day on 15 touches and 4 tackles. Gavin Urquhart had 12 possessions and Max Warren 11.
