New North recruit Jordan Gysberts won’t take long to settle in at Aegis Park with the 21-year old already familiar with several Kangaroos.

“I played at Eastern Ranges with Kieran Harper and Ayden Kennedy when Shane Watson was there as coach,” Gysberts told kangaroos.com.au just minutes after the news broke of his move from Melbourne on Friday morning.

“I also played representative footy with Jamie Macmillan and was at the AIS with Shaun Atley.”

Admitting the trade was still sinking in, the former Demon revealed the deal was confirmed to him late last night after he met with North officials including Brad Scott earlier in the week.

“Brad was fantastic and we had a really open and honest conversation. He told me they’re not looking to bring me in to play VFL footy and it’s up to me to repay their faith, work really hard and make the club better. I just can’t wait to start there.”

Gysberts only managed one game in 2012 but is an untapped talent and received a Rising Star nomination in 2010 after being selected with pick 11 in the 2009 Draft.

“It wasn’t a great year for me but I’m the first to admit that,” Gysberts said.

“I’ve just got to put that behind me and take advantage of a fresh start at North now and do everything I can to play more senior games. North is an exciting club that’s headed in the right direction with a great young list so hopefully I can make them an ever better side.”

Gysberts will meet his new Roo team-mates when training starts on Tuesday, October 30 and will travel to Utah for his first altitude camp.

“I know the camp will be tough but I’m really looking forward to it. If it helps me become a better player, I’m all for it.”
