North Melbourne has acquired Jordan Gysberts from Melbourne.

The Roos will hand over Cam Pedersen in return for the midfielder, with some picks to be included in the deal when official paperwork is lodged with the AFL later today.

Gysberts was drafted with pick 11 in the 2009 National Draft. At 190cm, he is a solid inside midfielder and has described his biggest strengths as 'kicking and handballing'.

The 21-year old managed just one game in 2012 and has played a total of 19 so far in his career, but will add to an emerging midfield group at Aegis Park and should see more senior action in 2013.

Arriving at North via the Rookie Draft in 2010, Pedersen was thrust into the limelight in the 2011 season opener. Without Todd Goldstein and Hamish McIntosh, his first taste of AFL football was as a sole ruckman against Dean Cox at Patersons Stadium.

With 20 disposals and 14 hitouts, Pedersen won praise for his efforts and cemented a spot in the side during the second half of 2011. Able to play forward, back and in the ruck, his versatility made him useful to the team structure.

The emergence of Lachlan Hansen and Robbie Tarrant to complement Drew Petrie up forward made 2012 a tougher year for Pedersen. Nathan Grima, Scott Thompson and Michael Firrito ably filled the key defensive posts and despite excellent form for Werribee, he was unable to break into the side.
