North’s match against Collingwood was a disappointment for fans and fantasy coaches alike, with many of the Kangaroos’ best fantasy players underperforming.

After some great form in recent weeks, Lachlan Hansen (40) and Daniel Wells (44) put in especially low totals, as did Aaron Mullett (50) and Leigh Adams (63).

Todd Goldstein battled well in the ruck and had 15 possessions, but most of these were handballs, leading to a low score of 67. Drew Petrie (69) was held goalless and Nick Dal Santo (75) copped a heavy tag that limited his output.

Even on a cloudy day there were some silver linings. Brent Harvey put in another excellent fantasy performance on the back of a big last quarter, recording 29 disposals and a goal for 108 fantasy points. After five rounds he has an average of 99 points per game, career-best form for him.

Ben Cunnington also put in a respectable performance, hitting the 100+ mark for the third time in three weeks with a score of 106. The midfielder had 28 disposals for the game, including 10 clearances and a goal assist.

Sam Gibson (89) and Ryan Bastinac (82) both put in reasonable scores, while Michael Firrito (93) was prolific in defence.

Ben Jacobs racked up lots of points once he was subbed on. He had 15 disposals and scored 65 points in 38% game-time. However, the youngster recorded a disposal efficiency of just 40%.

All in all it was a far better fantasy day for Collingwood, which saw eight separate players crack the 100+ mark. North will be looking to bounce back next week when it travels west to face Fremantle, and hopefully this leads to good fantasy results.

Around the Grounds

Two of those Collingwood players to crack the ton were Dane Swan (145) and Travis Cloke (111), who had both been in poor fantasy form before the clash.

Swan has shed almost $100,000 of value in AFL Fantasy Classic and Cloke more than $150,000 – both look to be bargains if they can keep this kind of form going.

Brisbane rookies Tom Cutler ($187,100) and Nick Robertson ($194,848) look set to have extended runs in the senior side which will see their value increase. Both would be good selections as cash-making bench options.

And speaking of cash-makers, it’s time to cut one loose – Xavier Ellis suffered a calf injury in the early minutes of his Saturday night game against the Eagles and managed only 2 points as a result. He’s made us about $120,000, now’s the time to trade him out.
