Robbie Tarrant's year to forget took another cruel turn on Saturday with the key forward a late withdrawal from the North Melbourne side.

The 25-year-old played his first game for the season last week against Adelaide, but hasn't pulled up well according to Director of Football Geoff Walsh.

"It's the same leg issue that's kept him on the sidelines for the majority of the year," Walsh told NMFC.com.au.

"The best thing to do is pull him from the team for tomorrow's match against Melbourne and reassess first thing next week."

Walsh says the North medical team won't be taking any risks.

"I think it's important we sit down with Robbie next week, do all the appropriate scans and tests, then make a decision on the appropriate course of action. Until we have all the information, we won't be speculating."

Tarrant had a quiet game against the Crows and was subbed late in the night for Liam Anthony.
