The most recent meeting between North and St Kilda was one of the biggest days in recent memory for the Kangaroos.

It was a dual milestone afternoon - Brent Harvey notched up his 350th game and Daniel Wells his 200th at Etihad Stadium in Round 10 last year.

Marking the occasion, North promptly went out and delivered a devastating first quarter burst to the tune of nine goals. Judging the output strictly by the quarter time margin, it was the side's fourth best first quarter ever.

Aaron Black was matched up on Jackson Ferguson and the unfortunate Saint felt the full force of a key forward in superb form. Black's four first quarter goals were highlights of the term and marked a forward line in total sync.

16 scoring shots in the quarter came from just 20 inside 50s as the Saints simply couldn't stop the onslaught.

In his 350th game, Harvey ran riot with four goals and 23 disposals. With a career high of five goals heading into the match, he had every chance to match or better it. Harvey had eight total scoring shots, but had to settle for 4.4 and a single Brownlow Medal vote.

Drew Petrie ended with the exact same individual scoreline as Harvey. His 4.4 was combined with 22 disposals, 9 marks and also 8 hit-outs for good measure. He provided the anchor deep forward, and the trouble he caused for the Saints defence was reflected by earning five free kicks.

After the first quarter, North was never seriously challenged. While it couldn't extend the 55-point quarter time lead by too much, it eventually cruised to a 68-point victory and a much needed win in the context of the season.
