With the club's VFL affiliates both enjoying a bye this weekend, it's an opportune time to look at the performance of North's players at Werribee and North Ballarat over the middle part of 2014.

NMFC.com.au looks at the Tigers, who currently sit comfortably inside the top eight and likely on their way to another finals appearance.

The following shows the performance of the Roos who took part in Werribee's victory last weekend.

Werribee Tigers (4th, 9 wins, 5 losses)

- Daniel Currie
Round 9 v Williamstown: 13 disposals, 31 hit-outs
Round 10 v Essendon: 2 disposals, 5 hit-outs (injured early)
Round 15 v Northern Blues: 12 disposals, 37 hit-outs, 1 goal

In the first stretch of the season, Currie was incredibly valuable for Werribee playing as the number one ruckman.

After his injury against Essendon, Currie missed a month of football before returning last weekend to face the Northern Blues. Even in slightly limited game time, the ruckman was able to have an influence on the game, laying a good foundation for the run to the finals.

- Kieran Harper
Round 9 v Williamstown: 12 disposals, 2 marks, 3 tackles
Round 10 v Essendon: 16 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 goal
Round 11 v Geelong: 13 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles
Round 12 v Coburg: 12 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 goal
Round 13 v North Ballarat: 17 disposals, 6 tackles, 6 clearances, 2 goals
Round 14 v Collingwood: 13 disposals, 8 tackles, 1 goal
Round 15 v Northern Blues: 9 disposals, 3 tackles

Harper has spent more time as an inside midfielder in recent weeks. Averaging almost six tackles a game over the last month of football, his pressure around the ball has been consistently good.

In Harper's first few games of the season, his disposal count fluctuated significantly. Following the first bye, he has regularly reached the 12-17 mark while also hitting the scoreboard regularly.

- Taylor Hine
Round 9 v Williamstown: 20 disposals, 3 marks, 1 tackle
Round 10 v Essendon: 23 disposals, 6 marks, 4 tackles
Round 11 v Geelong: 20 disposals, 4 marks, 3 tackles
Round 12 v Coburg: 14 disposals, 4 tackles
Round 13 v North Ballarat: 21 disposals, 7 marks, 4 tackles
Round 14 v Collingwood: 18 disposals, 4 tackles, 4 marks
Round 15 v Northern Blues: 13 disposals, 5 marks

Hine has been one of Werribee's best players in 2014. More important than the stats, the small defender has consistently won his matchups against dangerous opposition forwards.

With the Tigers owning one of the VFL's best defensive records this season, Hine has been a large reason for it. Offensively, his disposal has also been improving from week to week with a lot of work going into improving his kicking with Gavin Brown.

- Kayne Turner
Round 9 v Williamstown: 13 disposals, 3 marks, 3 tackles
Round 12 v Coburg: 14 disposals, 1 goal
Round 13 v North Ballarat: 12 disposals, 6 tackles
Round 14 v Collingwood: 11 disposals, 6 tackles, 1 goal
Round 15 v Northern Blues: 10 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 goal

Two thirds of the way through the season, Turner has continued to impress despite his slight frame. Playing the last four games consecutively, the first year rookie showed little signs of wilting under the workload, consistently ending up with high tackle counts.

Against the Northern Blues, Turner played higher up the ground than normal, spending time on the wing. Another seven tackles showed his defensive pressure thrived in the newer position.

- Mason Wood
Round 10 v Essendon: 9 disposals, 4 tackles
Round 11 v Geelong: 11 disposals, 7 marks, 3 tackles
Round 12 v Coburg: 26 disposals, 5 marks, 4 tackles
Round 13 v North Ballarat: 17 disposals, 4 marks, 5 tackles, 1 goal
Round 14 v Collingwood: 14 disposals, 3 marks
Round 15 v Northern Blues: 15 disposals, 4 marks, 3 goals

Seemingly on the verge of a debut before an injury set him back, Wood has worked his way back into good VFL form.

The left-footer has spent more time on the wing in recent weeks, collecting 26 possessions against Coburg in perhaps the most impressive effort of the lot.

In the last game before the bye Wood hit the scoreboard once more, kicking three goals in a good outing.

Throughout the middle stretch of the season, there have been many more Roos who turned out for John Lamont's side.

The likes of Ben Brown, Sam Wright and Scott McMahon earned a senior spot through strong Werribee form, and when Brown was injured, Majak Daw stepped up to ably replace him.

Robbie Tarrant played one VFL game before an AFL recall and subsequent injury ended his season.

Meanwhile Tim McGenniss has been one of the Tigers' most consistent players in 2014. Playing as a tagger in the midfield while also winning his own ball, the second year rookie suffered a shoulder injury a fortnight ago. His recovery time is still to be determined heading into some well-deserved time off.
