North Melbourne captain Andrew Swallow was 'super impressed' with the way his team responded to a Bulldogs’ challenge on Sunday.

Going into the rooms at the main break leading by just 14 points and having squandered the momentum, the Kangaroos bounce back to nine goals to three thereafter.

“We spoke about the pressure at half-time and the most pleasing thing was that we got a response,” Swallow told SEN’s Morning Glory.

“The second half was terrific with the way the guys went on.”

In the second quarter, North’s disposal efficiency dropped as the Bulldogs turned up the heat. It was that area of the game which was highlighted in the rooms.

“It was about our ball use and giving our key targets a chance,” Swallow said.

“Ben Brown is getting better every week and Drew Petrie’s in some terrific form. Aaron Black took a step forward yesterday from what’s probably been a bit of a down year so far.”

While the structure of the forward-line has been focused on at times in 2014, the skipper says the midfield must take responsibility too.

“We can always make it easier (for the forwards) with the delivery going into the forward line. At times we go and blame the forwards but it’s us midfielders who are just bombing it on their head.

“I feel like the last couple of weeks the forwards have been improving and working on their (running) patterns.”

On an individual note, Swallow is happy with how his body has adjusted to football after returning from an achilles injury. With 29 disposals and 11 tackles, he led the way for the Kangaroos.

“I’m feeling better every week. I hadn’t had a major injury until I did my achilles, and you don’t realise how much it takes out of you,” he added.

“It’s taken a little longer than I would have liked to, but I feel like I’m getting back to some decent footy and it’s coming at the right time of the year.”
