For a penultimate weekend where a swathe of fantasy stars were unavailable, our fan team produced one of its best scores.

Ably led by Tom Rockliff, who continued on his merry way with yet another 150+ score, we managed 2226 points for the round – our fourth best total for the season.

We were hit with the late withdrawal of Dustin Martin, but Carlton’s Blaine Johnson gave us a serviceable 56 as emergency, while fellow Blues in Kade Simpson and Ciaran Sheehan (cover for Josh P Kennedy) managed just 57 between them.

Levi Greenwood, Scott Pendlebury and Dayne Zorko were all excellent, while recent trade-ins Joel Selwood and Matt Priddis managed 87 and 78 respectively. Those totals weren’t great, but they were filling in for the injured Michael Barlow and Dayne Beams.

Special mention to Tim Broomhead, who filled in for the suspended Brent Harvey in our forward line. The young Magpie scored 97 points, more than either Kieren Jack or Patrick Dangerfield.

This week’s matchup and trades

We take on Adelaide this week, who have fought hard all season to earn their third-place ranking. We’re 4 wins clear and will finish in outright second place.

From the trades perspective we will look to replace Josh Kennedy if he doesn’t play. We also have Brent Harvey sitting on our bench, and we will trade him out for a playing forward.

It’s unlikely that Sydney will risk Kennedy here, so the safe move would be for us to trade the pair, and bring in two players we think can do a job for just one week. Jordan Lewis is a prime candidate to replace Kennedy, after enjoying a career best season and facing Collingwood this week – the Pies have conceded more fantasy points than any team over the past month and a half.

Meanwhile Toby Greene is in hot form, ranking third for average points scored since halfway through the season. Only Rockliff and Gary Ablett have averaged higher in this time.
