The North Melbourne captain is in peak form at the perfect time of the season. Against Melbourne Andrew Swallow collected 11 clearances; the third consecutive time he’s hit double figures.

Swallow ranks second in the AFL for average clearances per game, behind only Gary Ablett. For a player coming back from a long-term achilles injury, his return to something approaching his 2012-2013 form has been remarkable.

North’s final total of 19.9.123 against Melbourne marked the fourth consecutive time it had kicked more than 100 points.

Compare the attacking output in the second half of the yar to the start of the season, and the gains are obvious.

Shaun Atley continued his consistent year with another 21 disposals against the Demons. It marked his second 20+ disposal game against the opponent. In Round 14 at the MCG, he had 25 disposals and a goal in one of his better games of the season.

The fourth-year player also had 90 per cent game time. While the number may seem high, it’s relatively normal for Atley. He plays the fourth highest percentage of game time in the North Melbourne side, only behind key-position players in Drew Petrie, Scott Thompson and Aaron Black.

In the victory, the Kangaroos won a final round match for the fifth consecutive time and made it 13 straight against the Demons.

The winning streak against Melbourne is the club’s second best of all time, only behind a 16-game streak against, coincidentally, Melbourne.
