Open training – Thursday at Arden Street, 11.30am-12.30pm approx. Autographs, sausage sizzle and merchandise available.

Nick Malceski has taken significant steps in his recovery, but Sydney is yet to make a decision on his availability for Friday night.

The defender sustained a minor hamstring injury in the first quarter of the Swans' Qualifying Final win over Fremantle, and is expected to return to training on Wednesday.

“He’s having a good week,” Sydney physiotherapist Matt Cameron said on the club's website.

“We gave him about seven days of no running last week and just worked on his hamstring and his back and everything has settled down really well.

“He started running late last week and over the weekend, and on Monday he was able to do some training on his own and some faster running and a bit of kicking and so on, and we were really happy with that and ticking that off.

“Now he’s ready for the next step, which is to train tomorrow (Wednesday) with the team.

“He’ll be out there and he’s ready to do it and based on that we’ll work out whether he’ll play Friday.”

Malceski's availability will be vital to the Swans' run out of the back half, with the All-Australian represenative having averaged 23 disposals a game this season.

When the teams last met in Round 4, he finished with 26 possessions and 7 inside 50's.
