Over the course of the season, North Melbourne’s Twitter handle - @northkangaroos – asked fans which plays they would like to see made into gifs.

Now with the year having come to a close, the best 32 gifs will battle against each other to take out the inaugural gif of the year title.

The second round has begun, with just 16 plays remaining. There will continue to be two matchups per day, with the voting period approximately 24 hours for each one.

The full draw can be viewed at the bottom of the page.

Round 2, Match 21

#2: Drew “Frank” Petrie (Elimination Final) v Ben Cunnington’s checkside (Round 21)

Petrie’s impromptu celebration after putting his side in front in the Elimination Final instantly went viral on social media, drawing comparisons to ‘Frank the Tank’ from movie Old School.

Round 1: Defeated Scott Thompson’s candy with 79 per cent of the vote

Cunnington kicked four last quarter goals against the Western Bulldogs, capped by this checkside. Making it look as easy as a casual kick in the park, the midfielder made no mistake off two steps.

Round 1: Defeated Lachlan Hansen’s tackle with 52 per cent of the vote

Round 2, Match 22

Jamie Macmillan’s smother (Round 2) v Lindsay Thomas’ candy (Round 9)

When North faced the Western Bulldogs, Luke Dahlhaus was seemingly about to stroll in to an open goal. Macmillan came out of nowhere, barely in camera frame, and swatted his shot on goal to safety.

Round 1: A stoked-to-be-in-the-second-round Macmillan defeated Shaun Atley’s one handed mark with 50.08 per cent of the vote

Perhaps the best part of a dummy being sold is when everyone least expects it. So the prospect of Lindsay Thomas swinging onto his right foot in front of goal was surprising to everyone.

Round 1: Defeated Drew Petrie’s fist pump with 68 per cent of the vote
