North Melbourne is set to take on Richmond in the first of three Hobart games for 2015.

The newly redeveloped Blundstone Arena, with an increased capacity of 20,000 will play host to the blockbuster clash in Round 6.

“The Hobart and Tasmanian public have been unbelievably welcoming and supportive over the past three seasons, and the club can’t wait for a similar reception when we return next year,” North CEO Carl Dilena said.

“Richmond is one of the biggest clubs in the league, and for this game to be scheduled at Blundstone Arena highlights the impact North Melbourne and the AFL is having within the city of Hobart.”

North will play the Eagles in Round 10, and following a sell-out crowd this season, St Kilda in Round 20.

“With new function rooms, public areas and facilities, Blundstone Arena is now an even better place to watch football for our Tasmanian fans.

“The players can’t wait to run out to a huge crowd of royal blue and white at each of our three games next year.”

2015 will be the fourth season North has played home matches in Hobart, with its allotment upped from two games to three from next year onwards.

“The club has been working extremely hard with key stakeholders to bring exciting AFL content to Tasmania.  The Hobart fixture for 2015 delivers on that aim.

“However, our efforts are not simply limited to the games, we are also looking to provide additional value to local communities by expanding on our existing community programs in 2015.”

North Melbourne thanks its Tasmanian partners Spirit of Tasmania and The Hobart City Council for their support in bringing three games to Tasmania.

TT-Line Chairman Mike Grainger says the company is very excited to again be partnering with North Melbourne.

"We are very pleased that North Melbourne will be playing three AFL games at Blundstone Arena in the 2015 season," he said.

"The 2014 games in Hobart against St Kilda and Adelaide were sold out, and we are expecting a similar outcome next year, particularly given the enormous support that North Melbourne, as well next year’s opponents Richmond, West Coast and St Kilda have in Tasmania.

"For us, the games are the perfect vehicle to promote Tasmania as a holiday destination in the winter months into our key markets, including Victoria."
