It seems like yesterday North Melbourne was battling it out in the finals, but football is officially back on the agenda.

After a short hike on Tuesday (Utah time), the Utah travelling group took to the field, albeit in an indoor stadium for their first pre-season skills session.

"It was just some kicking, a little bit of tackling, and just getting the hands and feet going again," forward Mason Wood told NMFC.com.au.

"I think everyone was a little bit rusty. There was a few kicks missed that normally you’d hit pretty comfortably, but you’d expect that coming off a fairly lengthy break."

There were some weary bodies at the end of the day, and understandably so; the morning started with a weights session, followed by skills, and finished with a running session around a nearby track in Newpark.

"It was pretty solid. Probably not as heavy as it’s going to be in the coming days, but it’s still a bit of a shock to the body at the moment," Wood added.

"We didn’t go out as hard as we could have, but we're just warming into it at the minute and it still felt pretty tough."

The tough conditions at Altitude making a short run all the more difficiult.

"Obviously it’s a lot tougher to breathe up here. You don’t notice it as much in the legs as you do in the lungs and it really is that burning feeling."

Brad Scott kept a keen eye on proceedings, with star onballer Jack Ziebell eased into proceedings coming off shoulder surgery.

The players will enjoy a rest day on Thursday (Utah time), before training heats up with a hike over the weekend.
