Drew Petrie will be the main beneficiary of Jarrad Waite's move to Arden Street according to David King.

The two-time premiership player and Fox Footy analyst said the former Carlton spearhead will ensure more one-on-one contests for Petrie.

"We haven't had someone who can take the attention off Drew on a regular basis for a long time and I reckon Jarrad will be the man to do that for us this year," King told NMFC.com.au in a past player survey.

"Drew gets double teamed constantly but having Jarrad there will change the opposition's approach. He's a player who can four to five goals in a hurry and will change the whole dynamic up forward in a big way."

Waite played 16 games for Carlton last season and booted 29 goals. Getting him to North to team up with Petrie could prove to be a master-stroke.

"It's going to be exciting to watch how they play alongside each other that's for sure."

Because of Waite's move to the Roos, King predicted Petrie will be North's leading goal kicker this season in the survey.

King also believes North is capable of going all the way this time around after losing in a preliminary final to the Swans.

"The addition of Jarrad and Shaun Higgins is huge and these guys can swing games; Waite more so than Higgins but they're both great players with a lot of talent who will improve our list dramatically. North should be a contender in my view."
