Brent Harvey he’s still appreciative towards Joel Selwood for his assistance at the Tribunal last year.

Harvey copped a one week-suspension from the AFL’s Match Review Panel for a bump on Selwood during the semi-final, but was ultimately cleared following favourable evidence from the Cats’ skipper.

Selwood revealed he was susceptible to bleeding easily above his right eye after a spate of previous head knocks.

“He (Selwood) didn’t lie. He said exactly what happened (in the incident) and that he didn’t think it deserved anything,” Harvey told The Herald Sun.

“I was very thankful for what he had done and would do the same for him and I think there would be a lot of other players that would so the same.”

Harvey was cleared to play in the Preliminary Final and subsequently promised to buy Selwood a beer.

During the International Rules series, he had his chance.

“I made sure I bought him (Selwood) a drink the first night we were together,” Harvey said.

“It was a vodka lime and soda, but I got a big one, in a big glass, just to say thanks.

“At first he said ‘No, don’t worry about it’, but I said, ‘Please I’ve got to buy you a beer.”

Having already missed the Elimination Final against Essendon through suspension, Harvey was desperate to play against the Swans.

“It wasn’t just another game, it was a preliminary final,” he said.

“It was scary as anything, and unbelievable, really, thinking I am going through this whole (tribunal) process again, just waiting.

“But the first time I felt a little bit of relief was their (tribunal panel members’) reaction to when I walked in to hear the verdict.

“David Neitz and someone else just looked so much more relaxed than the last suspension and I thought ‘I might be all right here’ and they said ‘Not guilty’, so it was a massive relief.”
