North Melbourne’s first game at Blundstone Arena in 2015 looks set to be a sellout, with only 3,000 general admission tickets remaining.

The Kangaroos will take on Richmond in Round 6 on May 9 in Hobart, with a high possibility of setting a Tasmanian AFL attendance record. The current high is 20,971, set in 2006 at Aurora Stadium between Hawthorn and the Tigers.

North CEO Carl Dilena told The Mercury that the club was confident of a sellout.

“We have already seen some very strong ticket sales for our clash with Richmond and it’s great to see the fans in Hobart and Tasmania getting behind us,” he said.

“We are expecting this match to sell out, so anyone who wants to guarantee themselves a seat at the stadium should make sure they get their hands on a North Melbourne membership or a ticket as soon as possible.”

It will be the first AFL game at Blundstone Arena since the $32 million redevelopment was completed in time for the ICC World Cup.

Construction had led to a reduced capacity in 2014 of just under 11,000.
