In 2015, a new voting system will decide the Syd Barker Medalist.

After every game for the season, the match committee (Brad Scott, Darren Crocker, Leigh Tudor, Shane Watson and Josh Drummond) allocated their votes.

Scott voted from 0-10 on each player per round, while the assistant coaches collectively voted from 0-10.

The maximum any player can poll in a single game is 20, and only their best 20 games of the season + finals count towards the final total.

10 votes are awarded for a truly exceptional performance, with the sliding scale working down to four for a good game, while two is for a player who has fulfilled their role.

In previous years, the voting system was a 5-4-3-2-1, with every game counting towards a player’s total.

With only two players – Brent Harvey and Sam Gibson – playing every match in 2015, few will be disadvantaged by the new system.

If players between second and 10th finish the evening tied, the player with the most number of higher votes will end in the superior position.
