New Development Coach David Loader says he excited about North Melbourne’s promising youth brigade.

Loader, who officially began working with the players at the club’s training camp in Utah this week, told NMFC.com.au time at high-altitude would be beneficial on many levels.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to get away and get out of your comfort zone a bit and learn plenty, to meet one another and start building some bonds,” Loader said.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the first to four year players and especially hoping to have a big impact on the new guys that have just been drafted.”

Those fresh draftees flew to Utah on Friday to join the rest of their teammates, after only being named North Melbourne players a few days ago.

“The learning opportunities are going to be massive for them on all scales. For a lot of these boys this is probably the first time they may have been overseas, but certainly to an elite training environment like this is over here,” Loader added.

“It will open their eyes up, but give them a really good base and a really grounding for the year ahead.”

While new to Arden St, Loader has plenty of coaching experience, having been at North Ballarat in the TAC Cup for the past nine years, as well as several years working in country footy.

And the latest addition to the club's coaching staff likes what he sees both on and off the field.

“It’s exciting times at North Melbourne and I’m really happy to be part of it and really positive about the year ahead and hold great hopes for what we can achieve this season,” he said.

“(The coaches aim) to build on the really strong things that are in place now and fine tuning some of those areas and certainly getting some hard work into the young players coming in to the system so they can bring added skills and be great add-ons to the club.”
