Jack Ziebell says he’s open to becoming the next captain of North Melbourne, but isn’t actively seeking out the role.

Currently the Roos’ vice-captain, the number seven believes Andrew Swallow is doing an “outstanding job” as skipper.

“One day it’d be an outstanding honour. The history of our footy club and the great leaders before … there’s some esteemed company,” Ziebell said on RSN Racing & Sport.

“Obviously it’d be an outstanding achievement, but as I’ve said, Andrew Swallow’s done a great job over the last four years and I don’t see why that would change.”

Ziebell said he hasn’t spoken to Brad Scott about the possibility of being captain, with his focus on continuing to improve his all-round game.

“I’ve just been concentrating in the last few years on my performance and developing as a leader.

“We’ve got some great leaders at our footy club who’ve been helping myself develop.

“If it did come my way it’d be an outstanding honour, but at the same time I’m not seeking it out or anything like that. What will be, will be.”

North is expected to announce its leadership group prior to the start of the NAB Cup in February.
