Brent Harvey is every chance of not only breaking the all-time games record of 426, but also smashing through the 450 barrier according to David Schwarz.

The former Melbourne forward said on 1116 SEN’s Morning Glory program that ‘Boomer’ is showing no signs of slowing down.

"The one thing that goes with age is leg speed, and leg speed is not an issue with Boomer. He's obviously loving the game, he's changed his role and is playing more as a small forward ... he could get to 450 and no one would ever have thought that was possible the way the game is being played now.”

Harvey needs 15 more games to break Michael Tuck's record of 426.

"His manager Shane Casley was in at the Roos yesterday talking about Drew Petrie and he said what about Boomer ... they said no, no, we'll still wait until round 16 or 17 (before starting contract talks)," Jon Ralph said.

Kevin Bartlett, who played 403 games for Richmond, has also backed Harvey to continue well past the 427 record.

"37 might be the new 27. That's the changing face of football and it does give players an enormous opportunity to play longer and I've always said that," Bartlett said.

"There was an article the other day showing the number of players who are over 33 and are playing very well."

Harvey told the radio station that he’s enjoying his footy more than ever, especially with the new cap on rotations.

“Back in our day when we first started you were playing 100%, if not you’re only coming off for a message when you got dragged. You were playing 90-95% of the game anyway,” he said.

“I love my training and I’m pretty fit, so I’d like to stay out on the ground for as long as I possibly can.

“This style of football suits me more than coming off the ground and playing 70% of the time with all those rotations we used to have.

“I’m enjoying it and I think it should stay this way for sure.”
