North Melbourne is thrilled to confirm it has extended its major partnership with Mazda for a further three years.

Mazda will remain the club’s sole major sponsor until at least 2019, taking the partnership to a grand total of 21 seasons.

Today, the club celebrated with a 21st birthday party to celebrate the new deal that first began in 1999.

North Chairman James Brayshaw thanked the leading car manufacturer for its continued support.

“Mazda have been a big part of North Melbourne for almost two decades now and we’re delighted to be continuing that partnership into a 21st year,” Brayshaw said.

“Not many clubs around the world are able to enjoy the support of such a loyal major sponsor and we couldn’t be happier to be still working with Mazda in a very mutually beneficial partnership.

“We know that Mazda is an innovator. It’s a company that’s built on imagination and ingenuity and those are qualities which we also value at North. Like us, Mazda are real, they are bold and never beaten.”

Mazda Australia Managing Director Martin Benders said the organisation was thrilled to be driving the Roos into the next decade.

“I was able to sign off on the original partnership deal in 1999 and am absolutely thrilled to again be signing an extension that will see us drive this deal into a 21st AFL season,” Benders said.

“It’s been an absolute pleasure supporting the Kangaroos and working with all the players, coaches and staff that have been lucky enough to be part of such a great club.”

As part of the new deal, Andrew Swallow will remain as the club’s Mazda ambassador.

“As captain of a footy club, we know how important the support of all our sponsors is and we thank Mazda for their loyalty to the Roos since 1999,” Swallow said.

“It’s been amazing having the support of Mazda during my time at Arden St.”
