Forward Jed Anderson is delighted to be back in the North squad following a lengthy rehabilitation program, and has Brent Harvey to thank for setting up his first goal last weekend.

The 22-year-old fitted in seamlessly in his comeback against West Coast in what was his second appearance for the Roos after sustaining a right hamstring tear in his debut against Adelaide in round one.

Anderson, who made two appearances in the VFL last month before earning the senior nod, said he was pleased to get through unscathed against the Eagles and test his hamstring.

"I'm really confident in the hammies. I hit some really top-end speed, I felt really good in my third game back and I'm slowly building," Anderson told NMFC.com.au on Tuesday.

"It was good to get the second game for North out of the way – my first full game – and I enjoyed it out there being around the boys."

Although Anderson was thrilled to just be back wearing the royal blue and white, he pointed out that the game was made more special after kicking his first goal for the Roos.

Harvey missed a second-quarter set shot from 30m directly in front that hit the post, with Eagles Luke Shuey, Sharrod Wellingham and Sam Butler attempting to get under the 38-year-old's skin by engaging in a little push and shove.

Harvey did not let that deter him at the next kick-in, collecting the ball from a Jack Ziebell spoil and delivering a pinpoint kick back inside 50 to a waiting Anderson.

The Hawk-turned-Roo marked uncontested and calmly drilled the goal from a near identical position where Harvey had missed just seconds prior.

"'Boomer' missed a goal he normally kicks. I was open, I caught eyes with him and he hit me on the chest," Anderson explained.

"It didn't feel too good off the boot but I knew if I put it enough out to the right it would swing back in and that's what it did … and hopefully there are many more goals to come.

"The boys got around me and I'll always remember Boomer kicking it to me, so it was really exciting."

Anderson also had 11 touches and four marks and has laid a solid foundation for the rest of the season after completing a rehab program that included countless pool sessions, hamstring strengthening exercises and warm-up laps.

The 179cm speedster said his main aim in his comeback game against the Eagles was to use his leg speed through the middle and up forward, and create space and time for his teammates.

"I pushed up into the midfield in the second half, got a bit of a touch around the ball and brought a bit more speed around the ball carrier," Anderson said.

"I felt really good out there, pushed into the space well and kicked my first goal which I was excited about."
