At the end of each season, there is the obligatory discussion about who could take “Charlie” home. Footy fans stretch their memories back to games played several months prior in an effort to identify their club’s best chance at winning the coveted award.

This year NMFC.com.au is asking for your help to determine the three best players from each game and you can vote in the Mazda Spirit Awards for your best three Kangaroos.

Here is the case for each of the players in the running for the votes from North’s defeat of Collingwood at Etihad Stadium, in alphabetical order. We’ll pick our 3-2-1, then you can have your say.

Sam Gibson – NMFC

Gibson had his third 30-plus disposal game of the season, the most by any Roo so far in 2016. Of his 33 disposals, 23 were uncontested as he provided plenty of run and carry for his side.

Brent Harvey – NMFC

In his record-equalling 426th game, Harvey was again influential. If it wasn’t for an uncharacteristic couple of misses in front of goals, he could have easily ended with four majors to go with his 25 disposals.

Scott Pendlebury – Collingwood

The Magpies’ captain was everywhere, amassing 30 disposals as well as seven clearances, five inside 50’s and a goal.

Steele Sidebottom – Collingwood

Sidebottom kicked one of the contenders for goal of the year on Friday night, capping off an impressive 28-disposal game.

Robbie Tarrant – NMFC

For the second week in a row, Tarrant kept his opponent scoreless. The defender held Travis Cloke to just seven kicks as he continued his surge towards All-Australian selection.

Lindsay Thomas – NMFC

Thomas continued his excellent form against the Magpies, kicking five goals to be the most damaging forward on the field. He’s now notched 16 goals in his last five matches.

Daniel Wells – NMFC

After his availability to play was in doubt just minutes before the start, Wells then came out and had an unbelievable start, collecting 11 first quarter disposals. He finished with 29 for the night, six clearances and a couple of goal assists.
