Ben Jacobs admits he had some pre-game nerves before his first match in three months, but was delighted to get through.

The North on-baller made his return from a foot injury with VFL affiliate Werribee on Sunday, playing close to a full game.

“I think now (after one game back) I’ll get excited before games, but I was pretty nervous,” Jacobs told NMFC.com.au.

“(There were) just a lot of unknowns so it was just good to get through.”

Jacobs didn’t waste any time making an impact, lining up alongside the Scorpions’ Jack Trengove in a tagging role from the opening bounce.

Within the first few minutes, he registered his first disposal, a clearance from the middle.

“It was my first game and first going that distance, so it was good to get through,” Jacobs said.

“I was happy I didn’t feel the foot, and the body felt reasonably OK.

“I was a bit one-paced at times, but that’s how it’s going to be, so I was just happy to be out there.

“It was good to get a blow-out and play on Jack for a bit, and then run my own race for a bit.”

Jacobs spent the third quarter in a conventional midfield role, before a rare stint in attack for the final term.

He even managed to kick a goal from a tight angle after a lead and mark.

“I’d reach the K limit (kilometres run), so I had to run forward so I didn’t run too far,” he said.

“I don’t get that opportunity much, so it was good to snag one.”

Jacobs wasn’t the only Kangaroo to return on Sunday, with defender Sam Wright also back from a long-term injury.

“It made it a lot easier. We’ve spent a lot of time (in rehab), so it didn’t feel as daunting coming back. It was good Sammy and I coming back together,” Jacobs said.

With a game under his belt, Jacobs’ approach is simple.

“Rest up, recovery, then hopefully the foot and the body recover well, which I’m sure they will,” he added.

“Then get a few more k’s in the body and keep building towards finals.”
