North veteran Michael Firrito has posted a heartfelt message on his Instagram account following yesterday’s news that he won’t be re-contracted by the club.

"A massive thank you to everyone for all the love and well wishes!” he wrote.

“I'm honoured to have represented this great club @nmfcofficial for 14 years. In footy there are highs and lows, I've loved every second of my time.

“As a kid I only dreamed of playing at the highest level.

“Thank you to all the supporters over the years that have had my back. The NMFC staff who work tirelessly to help make us the best players we can. My team mates who I'll miss more than words can describe, and Brad Scott who is someone that I've loved playing for and learnt so much from.

“It's not over just yet though, I look forward to this next month and making a massive impact on this final series.

“Thanks again, go Roos! Xx #NMFC”
