North’s women’s VFL affiliate will be striving for premiership glory on Sunday.

The Melbourne University Women’s Football Club is set to take on Darebin in the Grand Final at Piranha Park on Sunday.

The team will feature the likes of Ellie Blackburn, Emma Kearney and Kaitlyn Ashmore, all signed by AFL Clubs in recent weeks for the upcoming AFL National Women’s League.

The match is set to be a star-studded affair, with Darebin also fielding four of the upcoming AFL Women’s marquee players.

“It will be another amazing chance to showcase women’s football and commitment to the game,” North’s Manager of Women’s Football & Talent Pathways and MUWFC President Laura Kane said.

“We’re excited for the challenge against Darebin, who have been setting the standard for a number of years now. We’ve come close to them a few times in the past two seasons, and we’ll be looking to go one step further this year.”
