As the countdown to the Syd Barker Club Champion Dinner continues, NMFC.com.au is taking a closer look at who might take home the best and fairest award.

While Robbie Tarrant looms as a potential favourite after a huge year, there’s been plenty of Kangaroos putting their hands up throughout the season.

The race for the Syd Barker Medal is well and truly open.

Todd Goldstein

Last year’s Syd Barker Medalist, the ruckman had a blistering start to 2016.

Every chance to be in the lead in the early part of the season, Goldstein was a large reason for North’s winning streak.

Although he missed Round 11 due to a knee injury and had a slight flat spot through the middle of the season, the 28-year-old still finished the year well, hitting the scoreboard regularly.

His 20 goals for the year featured his second ever haul of five in a match, occurring in Round 3 against Melbourne. Coincidentally his first bag of five also came against the Demons, way back in 2009.
