It was a race between two for this year’s Mazda Spirit Awards, but there could only be winner.

Voted on by the club’s members and fans, the award recognises the player that best illustrates the traits of power, toughness, strength and performance.

This year, that player was Jack Ziebell.

He didn’t have it easy though. Going into the final game of the season, the vice-captain was 11 votes behind Daniel Wells, only to take the lead as North’s best in the Elimination Final.

Ziebell had an outstanding season, averaging over 22 disposals a game and booting 18 goals.

He finished second at the club for tackles (112) and third for clearances and contested possessions.
