North Melbourne may not have a women’s team yet, but it hasn’t stopped the club from influencing Wednesday’s historical draft. The club’s alliance with Melbourne Uni, helped produce an impressive 11 selections.

All up, MUWFC had 16 AFLW listed players picked up, with the opportunity to train out of Arden St clearly paying dividends.

MUWFC has had access to North’s facilities such as the ground and gym, while also receiving tutelage from some of the Roos’ experienced coaching staff.

Deanna Berry, selected at pick 9, was part of The Huddle’s very first girls’ academy back in 2010.

North has been given a provisional AFLW licence, and is looking forward to forming ateam when the first intake of new clubs occurs.
