Quotes

“I could still jog and get up to 75 per cent, I just couldn’t sprint, and as a defender you need to be able to sprint.” – Thompson on trying to recover in time for the Elimination Final

“In probably four or five weeks, I’ll be back to full strength.” ¬ Thompson expects to be fully fit for the start of pre-season

What the coach said – Brad Green

“It was one of those years that came to a frustrating halt right at the end.

“He played some ripping games, when you look at some of the players he played on; Jake Stringer, Tom Lynch on the Gold Coast, Eddie Betts – so he can play tall and small.

“He’s very versatile in the way he plays and I reckon he was pretty good for most of the year and very consistent.

“He’s grown his game with his leadership and playing to the way he want to play.

“His hip troubled him and we missed him in that final. You know he can play through most injuries, so you know if he’s out it really is something.”
