While the use of academy picks could very well shuffle the order, North goes in to this month’s NAB AFL Draft with its earliest pick since 2013.

The Roos hold the 11th selection overall, as well as picks 32, 33 and 80 for November 25’s Draft.

As the countdown continues, NMFC.com.au is taking a look back at the history of each of the key selections on the night.

Pick 33

While North has held the 33rd selection on four occasions prior to this year, it hasn't been the most memorable of picks.

The Roos took Malcolm Shippen in 1986 from Moulamein, then Matthew Kelly from Wedderburn four years later. Neither played a game.

Drafted to Fremantle initially in 1994, Sam McFarlane joined North the following season. He played two games in the Roos’ premiership year of 1996.

During a reserves game in 1997, McFarlane was struck in the jaw by Barry Hall, and had to have his jaw wired back together with three plates inserted.

More recently, Mitch Hibberd was the Roos’ third pick at the 2015 NAB AFL Draft and showed great signs of improvement in his first season at the club.

Of the most memorable selections, Shaun Hart played 273 games for Brisbane for three premierships, key-defender Craig Bolton lined up 199 times for Brisbane and Sydney, and Jed Adcock went on to captain the Lions.

Arriving at his fourth club with pick 33 in 2000, Martin Pike famously played in three further premierships following his ’99 win at North.
