Majak Daw has been named as one of 19 AFL and AFL Women’s multicultural ambassadors for 2017.

Daw will support the AFL’s multicultural strategy through key appearances at multicultural events in his role as an Australia Post ambassador.

In 2017, multicultural players make up 15 per cent of AFL player lists, with 26-year-old Daw now in his eighth season at North Melbourne.

The Sudanese-born ruckman will play a key role in the AFL’s Multicultural Round celebrations in Round 19.

“The Ambassadors represent 12 AFL Clubs, four AFLW Clubs, and a wide range of diverse communities throughout Australia,” AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said.

“They will play a crucial role in increasing cultural awareness, promoting inclusion and encouraging participation at all levels of Australian Football.”
