James Brayshaw has declared Brad Scott the ultimate team man after the senior coach candidly discussed his future at Arden Street during a television interview earlier in the week.

“What he’s always done, Scotty, from the moment we gave him the job, is put the club first,” Brayshaw said on Triple M.

The former chairman used last year’s player exits as one example of how Scott had put the club ahead of his own ambitions.

Brayshaw said the easiest option would have been for Scott to continue with North’s tried and trusted playing list, but stated it would have been at the expense of the club’s future.

“Do you reckon if he cared about himself more than the club he would have exited Harvey, Firrito, Petrie, Dal Santo and Wells all at the same time?” Brayshaw said.

“Instead of that, he said, ‘The only way we’re going to get to where we want to be, which is winning a fifth premiership, is to go down this path … I’m prepared to cop the hits for it to make sure the club advances’.”

Brayshaw praised Scott’s honesty and loyalty saying he is the right man for the job having taken the Roos to four finals series in the past five seasons.

“I absolutely adore this bloke for that exact reason. He is a Shinboner and there is no higher praise you can give to a man at the North Melbourne Football Club. He has been brilliant for us.”
