Lindsay Thomas says his aim was to get back to enjoying football while playing for Werribee on Saturday.

The small-forward booted four goals and gave off several others in the Tigers’ victory, putting his hand up for an immediate recall after he and Andrew Swallow were omitted on Thursday.

“I knew what I had to do, and I thought Andrew (Swallow) was great as well,” Thomas told NMFC.com.au after the match.

“Brad was pretty thorough with what he wanted from me. We just came back here to get a bit of confidence back and the body feels good. Hopefully I’m back in the seniors along with Andrew next week.

“I really just came out here to enjoy myself again.”

Thomas said he and Swallow had vowed to hold their heads high and not let the news of their omissions affect their performance.

“Me and him spoke before the game about just getting around the young boys, because we haven’t played with them much,” he added.

Asked if he felt pressure to perform at the level, Thomas said:

“In terms of pressure … no not really. I love coming out here and playing at Arden Street as well, so it was good.”
