Registrations for North’s 2017 Next Generation Academies in both Victoria and Tasmania are now open.

Boys and girls aged between 11 and 15 are being encouraged to register and attend trials and have the chance to be part of a unique academy program.

The trials will be held in July in North Melbourne and Wyndham, as well as in both the north and south of Tasmania, and even those without any football experience are welcome to apply.

North’s academy in Tasmania is being delivered thanks to the support of Spirit of Tasmania and in conjunction with AFL Tasmania.

Those who are selected to be part of the academy will experience an eight-week elite football and personal development program beginning in August.

North forward Jarrad Waite said it was a great opportunity for young boys and girls to begin their football journey.

“The AFL is going from strength-to-strength at the moment and I know participation levels are right up there, especially with the women’s league,” Waite said.

“These kids are what makes the game so good and this is why the game has been around for as long as it has because of all these talented kids coming through.”
