Getting To Know: Daniela Grando

May 11, 2017 8:52 AM

As Australia celebrates National Volunteer Week, we are profiling the amazing work of The Huddle volunteers.

Daniela Grando, Huddle Volunteer

What do you do when you are not at The Huddle?
I’m currently studying Italian and sociology at university, which I really love! When I’m not busy writing essays or practicing Italian, I enjoy spending my time with friends and family, relaxing and listening to music.

Why did you choose to volunteer at The Huddle?
I was introduced to the Study Support Program at The Huddle through an education subject I did in my first year at university. Initially I was only meant to tutor for 7 weeks as part of the subject, however I enjoyed it so much that I’m still here 3 years later!

What’s your favourite thing about The Huddle?
The best thing about The Huddle for me is getting to know the students. They are so motivated and enthusiastic. I love coming in every week and catching up on how they’re going, having discussions with them about their ideas and what they’re studying. They’ve taught me a lot. There’s a strong sense of community at The Huddle and it feels great to be a part of it.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
I’d spend the day in Venice…and get a gelato!
