Shaun in form

While North hasn’t had the ideal start to 2017, Shaun Higgins has been a shining light.

The classy on-baller has averaged 22 disposals and a goal a game, enjoying more time around the contest.

“I’ve been building on the midfield role since I moved across to North. It was just unfortunate that last year I missed 16 weeks with the knee (injury),” Higgins said on RSN Racing & Sport.

“The body’s feeling really good, and when the body’s feeling good it does make things a little bit easier to find the consistency and play the role that you know you can play.

“You’ve only got to be a couple of per cent off, especially with the body and it makes it hard.

“I think it’s just everything that’s working OK at the minute.”

While Higgins had another strong game against the Swans on Sunday, with 21 possessions and a goal, it was a day to forget for the Roos.

The number four admitted the ball use going inside 50 was poor.

“We weren’t looking after our forwards well at all,” Higgins said.

“We’ll get in today (Tuesday) and look into that thoroughly, but it was a combination, it was ball use which stands out to everyone, but to give them (the Swans) first possession and opportunity like we did in the contested footy was disappointing.

“Then we didn’t defend well … so the whole lot doesn’t add up to a good result.”
