Carlton could be without one of its most important players after Sam Rowe suffered an injury in Perth against the Dockers on Sunday.

The Blue hurt his knee in the early stages of the 35-point loss to Fremantle.

Blues' coach Brendon Bolton may look to Liam Jones as a replacement ahead of this Sunday's clash with North at Etihad Stadium.

"Our Northern Blues are going really well at the moment," Bolton said.

"Liam Jones is playing some really good footy, so that's a good sign. We have some good depth to go to."

Along with Rowe, Dale Thomas will also be assessed during the week after suffering a mild concussion and blurred vision.

Thomas didn't play after half-time, leaving just two fit players on the bench.

“We got lack of rotations, so you have to stay out there longer," Bolton said. "That's a new experience for a young group.

"They wouldn't have experienced that before, quite a few on our list, where you've got to have far more game time. So, that's new, but that's what you have to work through.

"Other footy clubs have to do the same, but it's just new."
