North's tough task

“They love playing in Launceston … we love playing in Tasmania.”

Brad Scott’s message in his weekly media conference couldn’t have been more accurate. In fact, Hawthorn and North enjoy some of the best records across the league at their homes away from home.

The Roos have won ten of their last 12 at Blundstone Arena, but the task in the state’s north becomes an almighty one when you consider the Hawks’ form at University of Tasmania Stadium.

Hawthorn has won a remarkable 27 of its last 30 games at the venue, dating back to 2010, with just two losses and a draw its only blemishes in that time.

North has lost two games as the away team in that time, but can take solace from a memorable win back in Round 5, 2010, when Daniel Wells, Brady Rawlings and Aaron Edwards kicked late goals to help it to a famous win.

On that day, Ben Cunnington played his first game as a Kangaroo, 2017 skipper Jack Ziebell had just 15 matches under his belt, and Todd Goldstein was still very much in the development stages as a ruckman with 21 games to his name.
