Jack Ziebell will have surgery to repair an injured toe on Friday.

The niggling issued kept the North captain from playing three games late in the season, according to GM Football Cameron Joyce.

“Jack battled bravely throughout the year with a number of injuries, the most recent being his toe which prevented him from playing in rounds 18, 21 and 23,” Joyce said.

“Jack showed great courage and leadership by making it through the season under some duress and was touch and go for the final game but wasn’t able to get up unfortunately.

“Thankfully his other injuries will heal in time and don’t require any surgical intervention at this stage.”

Joyce also confirmed a number of other players will require post-season procedures including Marley Williams (back), Sam Wright (ankle), Jy Simpkin (ankle), Braydon Preuss (shoulder), Nathan Hrovat (ankle), Ryan Clarke (shoulder) and Ben Brown (elbow).

“We expect all these players to be ready for day one of the pre-season,” Joyce added.

“All the procedures are relatively minor with enough recovery time to allow the players to have a decent break, but also get themselves right for training ahead of the 2018 season.”
