Luke Davies-Uniacke is forecast to become a big name on the AFL scene, with the hopeful predicted to be snatched up within the first few picks at the AFL Draft in November.

Unlike most, his dream to play on the AFL big stage was born only a couple of years ago when he started to take the game more seriously.

“I wasn’t quite there, I was probably playing footy because everyone else was doing it then the dream came real to me,” Davies-Uniacke said at the Draft Combine.

The imposing midfielder admits backing and knowing his own ability was the trigger for taking his game to a new level.

At 187 centimetres tall, Davies-Uniacke exemplifies strong presence around the ball and in contests. Developing his game to utilise his size, along with his quick turn of speed has enabled him to run though stoppages and grab the ball at pace.

His game style is inspired by childhood idol Lenny Hayes.

“Lenny Hayes, the way he went about his football was unreal, his aggression at the ball - something I would like to put in my game," Davies-Uniacke said.

While Davies-Uniacke sat out much of the combine, he's shown plenty to suggest he'll be among the top few picks come Draft night.

“I am reasonably confident (about himself), I still have to earn the respect of my teammates and coaches, so my first priority will be earning respect," he added.

“There always a little bit of pressure but I’m a pretty laid-back type of guy, I’m just cruising at the moment, just waiting for draft night and (to) hopefully be on a list.”
