There probably isn’t another AFL hopeful with more resilience and determination than Aiden Bonar.

With two ACL surgeries at only 18-years-old, the young Victorian has powered through rehab to pursue his dream of lighting up the AFL stage.

“At the start of the season last year I was always worrying if I would get back and what I’d do, but I always kept strong with the idea I’d hopefully make AFL one day," Bonar said.

“I’m here today and pretty proud of myself getting here.”

Returning from injury mid-year, the speedster impressed with his sleek skills as if he hadn’t missed a week. Even more impressive were his bone-crunching tackles and ability to break contact, showcasing his strong frame at the Dandenong Stingrays.

“At the start of the season I was a bit nervous if I would get picked up but as soon as I got back I felt I was in good shape and I thought I tested pretty well today and yesterday,” he said.

Initially playing up forward as a third tall he has recently spent more time in the midfield, showcasing his constant pressure and overhead marking ability.

Although Bonar was sidelined for two years, he kept at his rigorous rehab program to put him in contention to chase his dream.

“It’s taken a lot of effort. Four PT sessions a week, three months of gymnastics, waking up every morning at six o’clock and a lot of work. I’m really thankful for the effort my parents have put in and my manger and all the people around that’s helped me.”

The youngster was a standout at last week's Draft Combine, further enhancing his draft prospects.

He finished second in the 20-metre sprint and broke the standing vertical jump record.
