There was no hiding the joy from the North players following Saturday’s 43-point win over the Giants.

Ryan Clarke - North Media

“It was a great win. We came down here with a purpose and to play the way we did, execute the way we did and get the four points is really pleasing.

“It’s unreal to come down to Tassie, it’s our home away from home.

“I think 98% of the fans were North supporters, so it’s unreal to get that support, and the big fellas in Browny and Waitey enjoyed it.”

Shaun Higgins - Game Day

“Hobart is a home away from home for us.

“We love going down there, we get great support, and enjoy the tricky conditions and it’s a ground we play well.”

Ben Brown - Fox Footy

“We love coming down here and we have a great crowd who comes out.

“I love getting down to Tassie, and I think the rest of the boys do as well because you love coming anywhere you win games.”

The conditions played a large part in the trends of the game, and North’s experience at Blundstone Arena was on full display, managing to impact the scoreboard with and against the strong breeze.

Todd Goldstein - Sunday Footy Show

“There’s always a bit of wind down there.

“We know how to play the ground, it is our home away from home and we really love going down there.”

“[The wind] was obviously difficult, but I suppose we’re a bit more use to it because it’s a pretty similar breeze every time we come down here.

“Today, I thought it was a little more swirly than it has been in the past.

“It was definitely difficult, but I’m glad we could grind it out and get the win.”

Scott Thompson - North Media

“It was blowing a gale in the second quarter and the ball comes in so fast and long, but we’re getting use to it, and 'Taz' (Robbie Tarrant) and 'Maj' (Majak Daw) really read the ball well today.

“We know where the pockets of wind are, know where the wind drops off, and use it to help us.

“We play the ground really well.”

After trailing at the main break, North came out firing in the third term, and established a lead that saw them through to the final siren.

Ryan Clarke - North Media

“We went into half-time and we just wanted to get back to our brand of football, and the boys did, and we ended up getting on top of them in the last half.”

Shaun Higgins - Game Day

“Contested ball and pressure changed the game for us.

“GWS got on top of us around the contest in the second quarter.

“We copped a little bit of a spray at half-time, and I think it changed the game for us in that third quarter.”

However, much of the resurgence can be put down to Ben Brown’s outstanding third term, in which he kicked five straight goals.

Shaun Higgins - Game Day

“It was an amazing quarter of football, he’s the favourite son down in Hobart, and he decided after half-time to put a show on for the faithful behind the fence.

“The amazing thing about Browny is, whether you keep him down for a quarter, a half or three quarters, he’s going to pop up at some stage.

“He’s got so many different avenues to score goals, and we saw that in the third term.

“It was an unbelievable quarter of football.”

Ryan Clarke - North Media

“It’s weird, he’s just unbelievable. We almost take him for granted.

“To his credit, he’s doing all the hard work with the amount of shots and contested marking he does during the week, it’s really good that it’s paying off.”

Todd Goldstein - Sunday Footy Show

“It’s just what Benny Brown does for us.

“Even when he’s not taking marks or kicking goals, he’s always making a contest in two-on-one situations.

“He always brings the ball to ground, and I think he’d be one of the best tackling tall forwards in the competition, so it’s those extra things he does that makes him such a great player.”

Ben Brown - Fox Footy

“I always think that you can change the game even if you’re having a stinker like I was at half-time.”

North’s other key forward, Jarrad Waite, was electric in the first half, and single-handedly got his side off to a near-perfect start.

Scott Thompson - North Media

“Waitey was really good in the first half and had a different role in the second half, which released Browny and allowed him to kick more goals.”

Shaun Higgins - Game Day

“Jarrad Waite was unbelievable in the first quarter. He was marking everything and kicking goals.

“Jarrad is in career-best form at the ripe old age of 35.

“He kicked three goals in the first ten minutes of the game and really set us alight.

“It’s frightening that at 35 he’s moving and feeling as good as he ever has.”

Ben Brown - Fox Footy

“The great thing about the first half was that we Waitey come out and kick four goals, and I think that’s the great thing about us this year, we can kick goals from multiple forwards.

“I probably didn’t need to do much in the first half.”

Todd Goldstein - Sunday Footy Show

“That’s what we love about Jarrad, he’s got the mind of a five-year-old, so you never quite know what he’s going to do.

“He’s been great for us since he’s come to the footy club, and I was chatting to him last night, and I don’t think he’s been reported yet so he’s done pretty well with us.”
